Believing in the importance of education for societal development, the Accounting Department is committed to providing the best educational services, including theoretical and applied programs, to prepare distinguished professionals in the field of accounting education. These professionals are committed to ethical standards and possess the ability to adapt to changes in the business environment, thus enabling them to contribute to development and meet the future aspirations of society. Therefore, to facilitate access to these services, I am pleased to present you with the Accounting Department Guide, which I hope will be beneficial. Description
The Accounting Department is one of the main departments in the College of Accounting, and it seeks to graduate qualified professionals specializing in the field of accounting in general. The Accounting Department was established in 1985, which is the date of the founding of the college, and the first batch that graduated from the department was in the spring semester (88-89). The department includes (29) faculty members, all of whom are nationals, and most of them are graduates of the college, including (5) faculty members sent to study abroad, and a number of (5) teaching assistants.

Mission
Contributing to providing students with everything related to the various accounting sciences, which will help them to be distinguished and unique in the specialized knowledge that leads to superior and creative work, and to supply the (local and global) labor market with accounting competencies committed to the ethics and conduct of the profession and who have the professional and academic knowledge that enables them to face the challenges imposed by the changing business environment.
Goals
- To qualify and graduate scientifically and professionally competent individuals to meet the needs of the labor market.
- To contribute to and participate in scientific conferences and seminars to keep abreast of the latest scientific advancements in various accounting fields and to familiarize students with the latest specialized professional publications.
- To contribute to the publication of research in all areas of accounting and to enrich aspects of accounting performance.
- To contribute to updating and developing accounting education curricula in Libya and to cooperate with specialized bodies in issuing publications, recommendations, and professional standards.
- To learn how to use accounting information in planning, preparing budgets, performance evaluation and control methods, and preparing and auditing financial reports in accordance with internationally recognized accounting and auditing standards, and to issue audit reports thereon.
- To encourage students and motivate them to adhere to the ethics and conduct of the accounting profession by relying on accounting principles, assumptions, and local standards as a guide for their work.
